Participants will learn about the history, philosophy, and current application of transdisciplinary approaches within the expressive arts. They will develop skills in creativity and academic inquiry, will become familiar with multiple expressive modalities (creative writing, music, movement, fine arts, theatre, expressive arts therapies, storytelling, photography, film making, etc.) and will explore the application of those modalities in an integrated learning environment.
During the international field school experience, participants will go on field trips to visit historical sites, and places of academic interest, including research centers and institutions, etc. Guest lectures by local instructors and experts in the host country will complement lectures by the instructor. The onsite field studies will be hosted and guided by the founders of the Calanoa Project, Marlene and Diego Samper, who will facilitate all the visits and activities.
